In this course students will gain a greater understanding of their local Lincoln community and its health care needs. Local leaders, decision-makers, and community organizations will provide expertise on current/emerging issues, helping students gain a deeper understanding of neighborhood assets and needs. Students will practice hands-on volunteer service and fieldwork in community organizations, and distribute $10,000 in grant funds to a local community organization that is addressing a pressing community need. This experiential learning course will require students to collaborate, take initiative, think strategically, and engage in complex decision-making. Prerequisite: Sophomore standing or above.
