This introductory course explores the reading and writing of creative nonfiction. Students will analyze how writers use storytelling techniques to craft true stories drawn from personal experience, observation, and research. Readings may include personal essays, literary journalism, and place-based writing. Through discussion, annotation, and workshop activities, students practice shaping real-life material into engaging narratives for a range of audiences and purposes.
Prerequisite: First Year Writing Course
